What is ARTBOURNE?

ARTBOURNE is part of the Wellesley arts programme and is a popular biennial art exhibition of contemporary artworks, jewellery & sculpture from nationally acclaimed and emerging artists.

In Year 1 (an even year), ARTBOURNE is a curated exhibition; in Year 2 (an odd year) ARTBOURNE is a month-long artist residency, followed by a residency and student art exhibition.

This year for ARTBOURNE 2018, Wellesley’s Centennial Hall and inner quad was transformed into a contemporary art & sculpture gallery (1 – 4 November). The aim was to foster established and emerging artists, and to showcase for sale their selected artworks. The artists donated a percentage of their artwork sales to the Wellesley Foundation’s scholarship campaign Promising Futures for Boys .This endowment fund supports boys who would not otherwise be able to experience a Wellesley education because of financial constraint.

As part of the 2018 ARTBOURNE exhibition, we were delighted to include work by our 2017 Artist in Residence talented mixed media artist Richard Adams
